Overview

Vortex Telemetry is an edge-native real-time monitoring and anomaly detection platform designed for distributed microservices.

It aggregates 50,000+ events per second over encrypted WebSockets, compiles live latency heatmaps, and provides automated anomaly alerts with sub-millisecond trace resolution.

By using double-buffered HTML5 Canvas renderers instead of heavy DOM SVG elements, the browser dashboard maintains 60 FPS even during high-burst incidents.

The Problem

During traffic spikes or production outages, traditional monitoring tools crash or introduce multi-minute aggregation delays, blinding on-call engineers when clarity is needed most.

  • Rendering 10,000 live log rows bloated browser memory beyond 1.5GB and crashed tabs
  • Bursty network spikes dropped connections without automated backpressure queuing

The Solution

We built a dual-layer architecture: a clustered backend using Redis Streams to absorb bursty traffic, paired with an HTML5 Canvas rendering engine.

  • Hardware-accelerated HTML5 Canvas charts rendering 100k data points at 60 FPS
  • Resilient WebSocket circular buffers absorbing sudden network hiccups automatically
